Presented this Sunday, April 7 at the toit d’Izieu, as the closing event of the Days of Memory, the show « The Children of Izieu » brings to life the text written by Rolande Causse through music and drawings, to tell the story of the moments of life and innocence shared by the children before the raid.
The toit d’Izieu is a memorial tableau located in the French department of Ain, where a group of Jewish children were hidden during World War II. Unfortunately, on April 6, 1944, the children and their supervisors were arrested by the Gestapo and deported to Auschwitz, where they were all killed.
To honor their memory and keep their story aen direct, the toit d’Izieu organizes the Days of Memory every year, a series of events and activities to pay tribute to the victims of the Holocaust. This year, the closing event was the performance of « The Children of Izieu », a powerful and moving show that combines music and drawings to tell the story of the children’s en directs before the raid.
The text of Rolande Causse, a French writer and journalist, is brought to life by the beautiful and haunting music composed by Christian Boustani. The drawings, created by illustrator and graphic designer Camille de Cussac, add a visual dimension to the story and help the audience connect even more with the children’s experiences.
